About The Pit Authentic Barbecue
Located at 328 W Davie St, Raleigh, NC 27601, The Pit Authentic Barbecue operates as a chinese bbq serving Raleigh in North Carolina. In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Raleigh; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in North Carolina are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 amβ10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (919) 890-4500. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, thepit-raleigh.com.

With an unexpected layover in Raleigh, I knew I had to try some Carolina barbecue. Chrishina was a super helpful and friendly server with excellent suggestions β she helped me navigate the menu so I could get a good selection of what the Pit has to offer. She recommended a really tasty draft beer called Wicked Weed Blueberry Sour from Asheville. Being in the wine business, I usually drink wine with my meals, but this just felt like a better match, and wow, was it good. I asked Chrishina to choose my side dishes, and when the fried green tomatoes arrived, I was instantly a big fan of my new favorite food. The barbecue pork and chicken were incredibly good, especially after adding vinegar β a first for me. I really wanted to try Aunt Hattieβs Double Chocolate Cake for dessert, but I couldnβt resist ordering another Blueberry Sour beer, fearing I might never stumble into a beer like this again. Hope to make it back here!!

Everything was absolutely delicious. All of the staff we interacted with were super friendly. We got chopped BBQ with collards and potato salad, and brisket with mashed potatoes and green beans. They also give you complimentary biscuits with honey butter and hush puppies. Every single thing we got was delicious. Prices were very fair for the portions!! I took about half my brisket home because the portion was so big. Also the restaurant is beautiful and has a great atmosphere! Iβd love to return! Definitely make a reservation because it was very busy on a Saturday night but I had a reservation and they sat us immediately!

Amazing Hostess, Okay Service Visiting all the way from Washington State, our experience at The Pit Authentic Barbecue started on a high note. The hostess provided the warmest welcome we could have asked for. She took the time to tell us all about the restaurant's awards and seated us at a nice table. She truly understands the meaning of hospitality, and I give her a personal 5-star rating! Unfortunately, the table service did not match that initial energy. We ordered the pulled pork and the chopped meat because the waiter mentioned they were well-known. However, he really didn't explain anything else about them. The food itself was good and unique, but the overall experience fell short. The meal would have been much better if our waiter had shown the same hospitality as the hostess. Instead of just taking our order and quickly leaving, we wished he had explained why these specific dishes are unique to the restaurant. It is a good spot for food, but the service needs more balance.

Went to this place about a month ago. Unfortunately, on this night, the kitchen was absolutely so backed up and we waited around an hour for food. However, I can see why this place is so well rated. Please get what they are known for! The pulled pork was delicious. Unfortunately, for me, I decided to get the fried fish platter, which I can tell, sat in the window for around 30 minutes before the pulled pork came out. I think you can tell based on my pictures by the color of the food - the whole catfish platter is a grey color. Potato skins were excellent, the drinks were excellent. Hoping to come back soon and have a more consistent dining experience! Still five stars for how great the food is and how kind the server was. Hope the kitchen is back to normal.

This place is incredible. Shari (possibly spelled her name wrong, sorry) was great and attentive, even with several new tables coming in right after me. The cocktails were both delicious, and the food was out of this world. I ordered too much food, but it was worth it. The BBQ was perfect, the chicken was moist on the inside but crisp on the outside. Even the butter for the biscuit was better than usual. My only regret is that I had to walk back to my hotel and couldn't just roll downhill before the inevitable food coma hits. But it's worth it.
